Open Access Agreement with Nature, starting Jan 1, 2021:

The Max Planck Digital Library will switch to the Publish & Read model centrally for all Max Planck Institutes. The contract will not result in any costs at local level at the MPIs:

  • access to all current journals in the Nature portfolio
  • all new magazines of the coming years (new launches), are also included
  • research articles by corresponding authors from the MPG will be published without local publication fees in Nature and the Nature Research Journals open access (if the authors agree)
  • excluded from the publishing component are the Nature Review journals (but they are included in read-only access

Open Access Agreement with American Institute of Physics Publishing (AIPP): covers open access publishing of all accepted articles by submitting corresponding Max Planck authors in AIP-owned subscription journals, unfortunately, the agreement does not cover OA Gold journals. Please contact the library for specifics.

Springer Nature and MPDL Services GmbH on behalf of Projekt DEAL: "SPRINGER NATURE AND GERMANY’S PROJEKT DEAL FINALISE WORLD’S LARGEST TRANSFORMATIVE OPEN ACCESS AGREEMENT" Please check the MPDL OA Journal list for APC specifics. Springer Nature's portfolio and Scientific Reports will only start on Aug. 1st, 2020. Springer Open and BMC  journals will be handled differently

Cambridge University Press (CUP): "Building on the ‘read and publish’ agreement coordinated by the Bavarian State Library (BSB) with financial support from the German Research Foundation (DFG), MPDL on behalf of the Max Planck Society has now entered in a new open access agreement with Cambridge University Press (CUP), which allows authors to publish open access in all CUP fully open access and hybrid journals. The Open Access agreement with Max Planck Society centrally covers the open access charge for affiliated submitting corresponding authors who publish in CUP journals under a Creative Commons license. American Chemical Society (ACS) "The Max Planck Society has established a new open access agreement with the American Chemical Society (ACS) which covers open access publishing of all accepted articles by submitting corresponding Max Planck authors in ACS journals that offer a Creative Commons Attribution license (CC-BY); under the agreement, the relative article processing charges will be paid for centrally by the Max Planck Digital Library. The agreement also covers read access to the ACS “All Publications” Package and Chemical & Engineering News (C&EN)" As the agreement aims to facilitate immediate open access availability, applications for funding should be made immediately but no later than 2 weeks after the ACS acceptance notification .
